Stunning Victorian Hallmarked Solid Sterling Silver Card Case Made By Edward Smith
Description - Exquisite rectangular solid silver card case with hinged lid, the case has scroll border, the case is beautifully engraved on both sides with engine turned decoration and hand engraved leaves and flowers, plus a central central cartouche with a monogram. The card case is presented in a nice leather bound hinged box with push button clasp and interior purple silk and velvet lining.
The case is fully hallmarked with the anchor for Birmingham assay, the lion passant indicating 925 grade solid silver, the Queen's head, the date letter "A" for the year 1849 and the maker's "E S" which is Edward Smith.
Condition - The card case,is in very good condition there are no dent, splits, holes or repairs, there is slight dink on one of the corners, the hinge is in good working order and the engraving is in excellent; crisp, clear and with no wear or rubbing what so ever. The box is in good condition the hinge and clasp work perfectlyand there are no holes or tears in the fabric.
Dimensions & Weight - The card case is 9.8cm long x 7.1cm wide, the weight is 66.7 grams.
