Up for your consideration is an ANTIQUE JAPANESE LACQUER WOOD CABINETfrom the late MEIJI ERA (late 19th century).
This ( 6 ) DRAWER SMALL CHEST features HANDPAINTED GOLD LACQUER FANS and other STYLIZED SWIRLY DESIGNS.The bottom drawer has a SCALLOPED shape. The two cabinet doors open to 4 drawers.
The COPPER, BRASS or BRONZE CORNERS, HINGES and KEY PLATES have FINE DETAIL.. The top drawer PULLS have RAISED DECORATION with tiny CHINESE CHARACTERS on them, possibly a MAKERS MARK.
This chest is in its original condition. It needs to be cleaned. There are losses to the lacquer-work here and there and along some seams. There is some slight minimal warping as well. One such example is on the top. It is FULLY FUNCTIONAL. It stands FIRMLY and all the drawers go in and out with EASE. The draws FIT WELL into their compartments.
