This exquisitely costumed doll was purchased in England for me in the 1950\'s. She\'s 11 1/4\" tall and is self-supporting. Her head is most likely made of bisque and is a quite realistic portrait of the elderly Queen Victoria The gown is a heavy mauve and black brocade with soutache trim. She wears a double strand pearl chocker and a large cameo pin, and her lace headdress features two long accordion pleated ribbons. Underneath the gown there\'s a moire satin lace-trimmed petticoat, and under that yet another petticoat of cotton and eyelet lace! Her knickers match the cotton petticoat. Black lace stockings conceal her legs, and her boots boast blanket stitched spats. In one fingerless-gloved hand she holds a cane, and a satin satchel dangles on a rope from her wrist. Please note that the cane has been mended and one of the spats is slightly damaged, but I don\'t think either issue detracts from the elegance of this doll. Such level of detail could only be found in a doll made by a noted expert in the field but I\'ve been unable to find anything similar anywhere. Unique, and fabulous condition for being 65+ years old!
