This is a very good quality and heavy silver plate and cut crystal glass biscuit box. It dates from the 1880\'s and was made by Henry Atkins and the other Atkins brothers as you can see from the stamps on the base. A good quality maker based in Sheffield, England.
It has some fine detail all over and the cut glass crystal just sparkles with a lovely glint, unlike any of the modern crystal glass you will see today. The overall condition is very good consider it is well over 100 years old. I would like to point out that there is a small crack to the lower base, on the corner of the glass liner and it runs for a few cm\'s as seen on the photos. Thankfully it cannot been seen when it is on display. The only other issue is the polish mark around the cherub handle of the lid, again as shown.
It measures 23cms in length, 18cms in width and 19cms in height.
Overall, considering the age, this really is a lovely item. It looks great as a display piece but could still be used for cheese biscuits at a fine dinner party, which is what it was made for in Victorian times. The pictures just do not do it justice as it really is exquisite!
