Estate Sale find. Remember the days when movie stars and sports personalities used to promote smoking ? Up for sale is an extremely rare piece of memorabilia from that time period. A 1953 Old Gold cigarette give-away. This figure is of a r. Promoted by none other than the famous Babe Ruth. Graphics show the \'Babe\' in one of his best known stances.
Card is of heavy stock. Width 5 5/8\" x height 4 1/8\". The. 2\" pewter figure is still tied to the card with its original brass wire.This figure is of a pitcher. As you can see from the picture there is some paint loss in some areas. Center top of card has a small brass eyelet where the item would hang on a peg in the store. Buy a pack of old gold cigarettes and you could choose from one of twelve carded players, each card had the cigarette pack on the bottom left of the card.
Graphics have either faded or just covered in 64 years of dust. Please not that actual image on the card may be a few shades darker than what picture shows due to use of flash.As you can see from the pics it\'s quite clearly Babe Ruth. Still a very rare find, even in this condition and sought after by both Baseball fans and Tobacco collectors.
