Gorgeous antique Chinesesoapstone carving of mountain village; the workmanship and quality is best. Thebase of the village has wonderful water-wave motif with fisher men right abovein a boat. The village is extremely well decorated with all sorts ofactivities. The king or nobleman is riding on horse-back with his sword in hishand while the rest of the people are carrying on with everyday work. The ageof the carving in my best opinion is 18th Century or early 19thCentury. The detail is incredible and very finely done. The condition of thesoapstone is very good considering its age, with a few minor nicks here andthere. Please preview the pictures very carefully. The height of the carving is6 ½ inches and the base measures 9 ½ inches x 2 5/8 inches. The entire piece issolid and guaranteed original and not a reproduction of any kind.
