Description:
Antique ribbon pullers were used to thread ribbon through the eyelets incorporated in baby clothing.
These lovely Victorian sterling silver ribbon pullers have a hinged scissor action as you can see.
They have been modelled in the form of a stork and are realistically chased, detailing the bird\'s plumage and features. There is an attached \"turtle\" stand allowing the pullers to sit securely when placed upright on a flat surface.
A rather charming additional feature isthe cocooned baby wrapped in swaddling clothes on the inside of the stork\'s stomach, visible only when thepullers are open.
More commonly found in continental silver this pairhavebeen made andhallmarked (on bothhalves ofthe beak)inLondon by John Millward Banks during 1891, as pictured.
Thestork measures 4.5\" long and weighs1.48 imperial ounces which equates to1.35 troy ounces or 42.1 grams.
There arejust the typical age-related faint scratches that all silver objects attract over the years but there are no nasty or seriousdents,dings, bends or misshapesanywhere as far as I can tell.
Quite hard to find and a fabulous Christening gift the pullers are being offeredfor sale here in a used antique condition, exactly as pictured andwith .
