FABERGE ICE CRYSTAL EARRINGS

Based on the Nobel Ice Egg Pendant from the Workshop of Peter Carl Faberge

“In 1870 when Peter Carl Faberge was only twenty-four years old, he took over his father’s jewelry business in St. Petersburg, Russia. With the help of his brother Agathon, Faberge cultivated the patronage of the last two czars of the Romanov dynasty and the elite of Edwardian society. Faberge successfully revolutionized the way jewelry was evaluated in Russia. Previously the worth of an object was assessed strictly by the value of its precious stones and metals. Faberge dispelled this former ideal by emphasizing the creativity and workmanship involved in making his intricate objects.

Faberge’s studios produced a wide variety of objects d’art, including magnificent jewelry, clocks, enamel cigarette cases, boxes and frames. In 1914 the prominent Swedish industrialist Dr. Emanuel Nobel (nephew of inventor Alfred Nobel) commissioned a brilliant jeweled pendant known as the Nobel Ice Egg. A mutifaceted composition, the rock crystal cover of the pendant is applied with a tracery of platinum-mounted frost motifs set with diamonds. The shimmering effect captures the chill of winter in Russia, where Nobel lived from 1914-17.”

The Museum’s Faberge Ice Crystal Earrings are based on the frost design of the original pendant. The sparkling earrings are sterling silver set with rhinestones.

These earrings are 1/2\" at their widest. For pierced ears.
Classical, catching the light wonderfully like the ice they depict.
The packaging is original, NWT, but not necessarily in gift condition. These earrings come in their original box, but the box is not perfect. This item is no longer made, and therefore is Vintage, so the packaging cannot be an issue.
