French*Antique*Manoir is acharming antique french brocante and antiques from 18th century untill the Art Déco period which come essentially from the Loire Valley, known for its history, wine, family property, manoir and castles.

This is adivine Frenchantique preserved quarter plate daguerreotype dated from the middle of the 19th century (1850). It is a portrait of a well-dressedyoung man, he is wearing a white shirt with a waistcoastand a beautiful knot in his neck, his pants isin vichy designand he is wearing a longcoat.He is seating and has hiselbow put on thecornerof a table, where he seems to have put his straw hat. He poses for the photo and heis very well hair dressed too.The portrait is covered with its original cover glass anddisplays outstanding sharp focus and excellent reflective depth.The frame is composed with 2 sides, one that contains the portrait with a fine chiseling bronze work around. The other side is padded with velvetred fabric ornated with a stunning flower and leaves royal design, it seems to change under different light. The velvet on this quite ornate daguerreotypeis in really lovely condition, with a rich and soft pile in an unusualwarmred colour. There is something so special about these wonderful antique French old daguerreotype. Perhaps it is the feel of the old velvet, perhaps the beautifully ornate bronze work, or the person who was took in picture, the combination of all, but I always have to pick these up when I find them, run my fingers over the velvet, and study every detail of the person behind the glass. The second part of the portrait comes to close the frame and protect the daguerreotype. This is probably why the portrait is still stunning and in perfect antique condition. It contains 2 hooks outside to closeandlockthe frame. It opens and closes firmly. The frame is in wood, it has been engraved by ornated design of flower and leaves and then covered withbrownantique paper. It is gently timeworn, just as it should be, full of character. A real french treasure from the past, when having this daguerreotype in hand, i can\'t help myself thinking of the person in the dagguerreotypeand the story behind. This a real museum masterpiece. The frame measures when opened 6.29\" length / 3.55\" height and when closed 3.14\" length / 3.55\"height. The daguerreotype itselfmeasures 2.16\" length / 2.75\" height.
