WELL ILLUSTRATED WITH 39 EXQUISITE TIPPED-IN COLOUR PLATES WITH CAPTIONED TISSUE GUARDS and many more b/w in-text illustrations.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EDITION SHOULD HAVE 40 PLATES BUT ONE PLATE (OPPOSITE PAGE 104) IS MISSING.

Attractively rebound in full tan leather with gilt ruling and gilt titles to spine. New endpapers.xv, 325pp. 39 colour plates.

Condition:

The new leather binding shows only mild shelf wear with some small shallow dents on the boards and a tiny mark on the spine.The binding and text block are tight and firm. Inscriptions dated 1912 and 1929 and old newspaper clipping re. the death of Arthur Rackham and dated 1939 to the half title page (which has been glued on to the new endpaper). One plate missing. 16 plates with corner creases. Plates facing pp.106 and 142 are detached but present. Some tissue guards creased and one torn. Dust spots to page edges. Light age toning and foxing scattered throughout. Occasional pencil marks or smudges. Many plates in lovely condition.

A lovely and beautifully presented copy of this rare book with exquisitelycoloured plates and black and white illustrations.
