I will be selling a good number of interesting antiques this week including Tribal art, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and European antiques. I will probably add a number of items on Friday 29th so please come back and have another look. PLEASE NOTE: This sale is in US Dollars.

This is a fine and undoubtedly antique Chinese carved and polychrome decorated wooden temple figure of Buddha. The prayer or offering would have been placed in the hole at the back and then sealed up with an extra piece of wood as seen. This figure is slightly better than the average as it is raised up on a dais in lotus form and with a flaming mandorla to the back of the figure (some of the painted flames can still be seen). It is a very attractive figure with a fine patina and traces of the original lacquer work, painting and gilding and it is one of several similar figures and pieces of Asian art I am selling this week so please view my other sales.

Any delays by the postal services either at my end or abroad are rarely my fault. I always post out at the latest 3 working days after receiving cleared payment but sometimes an item is slowed up by a backlog of post or delayed whilst being processed through customs. To give you an idea it generally takes about 3-7 working days within Europe and 7 - 14 working days to the U.S. / rest of the world. If speed is of the essence then I can use a courier (DHL / FEDEX etc.) but prices for couriers start at around £30 / £40GBP for the very smallest object and VERY quickly escalate depending on size, weight and destination. Please note also that there was a considerable hike in postage prices by the Royal Mail last year. I add on very little, often not enough to cover the packaging materials, so the price I quote really is as fair as possible.
