Description:

A very fine antique 19th Century portrait painting of an elegant lady in black silk dress with lace trim, standing by a piano, dating to circa 1840.

The well executed scene is painted in watercolour on paper and mounted, framed and glazed within a more modern gilt molded frame. The colours are natural, allowing the brighter highlights using in the bonnet, ribbon and shawl to stand out.

It is unsigned within the mount aperture, but the painting shows excellent skill, so has clearly been undertaken by a trained hand.

Dimensions:

Framed: 41 cm x 35.5 cm or 16 inches x 14 inches

Painting: 17 cm x 13.2 cm or 6 3/4 inches x 5 1/8 inches

Condition:

The paintingis in good condition, with some light fading mainly to the upper left side. The frame is in good condition and suits the painting well.Please see the images provided which complement this description.
