Fine, antique pair of Japanese Satsuma pottery vases - Meiji period, circa 1890.
Each of hexagonal form with the entire surface covered with gold ground, finely painted faces of 18 immortals and a curled dragon, done with raised enamel \'buttons\' in Moriage technique.
Each vase marked on the shoulder with gold Satsuma mark and with a maker\'s mark, on the bottom.
Work quality is very good - wonderfully painted faces - each vase comes with a carved wood stand.
Both are in excellent condition for the age - no losses, cracks or repairs - please view all detailed pictures.
Each measures 14.3 cm tall, on the stands - by itself each is 12.3 cm tall x 7 cm wide.
