A fine large old authentic Northwest Coast Haida Indian hand carved cedar totem pole circa 1930-1950. The totem pole depicts great classic imagery of a bear clutching a salmon, Raven with a broken beak, followed by a beaver at the base. The totem is very reminiscent of a 1940\'s argillite totem poles from the same period. The totem is inscribed by the artist \"Douglas White Masset BC \" to the bottom of the base. Douglas White (died 1977) and was a noted carver of argillite and whose descendants ( the white family) have carried on the tradition. It\'s very rare to find wooden Haida totem poles from this period. The totem stands 15 1/4\" tall with a base measuring 3 1/2\" x 3\" and is in very good condition for its age with no damages or repairs noted. The totem makes an excellent display item and a fine addition to anyone\'s collection.Please add $9.95 for careful shipping and insurance (USA). Good Luck and Happy offerding.
