Here is an authentic and antique HOPI WAKAS or COW Kachina which is in GOOD CONDITION FOR AGE - A WELL CARVED / PAINTED NATIVE AMERICAN COTTONWOOD KATSINA CARVING. A very nice and collectible antique Hopi Katsina Doll, made from solid Cottonwood. This Kachina was made by an expert HOPI maker, (a signature is in pencil on bottom of feet but I can\'t make it out) and is c1940 (1935-1950).

This is a fine looking Kachina, with a great workmanship, and a nice paint job, and expert overall carving. He is made from solid Cottonwood Tree Wood standing, at about a BIG 12\" tall (NOT including feathers), and 4 1/2\" wide at fists. This Kachina is in GOOD Condition for age with the primarily paint and feather loss, as you can see from pics. There are no breaks or cracks to limbs or body (good candidate for complete restoration -see pics). This Kachina, as you can see, displays extremely well and is a beautiful, very collectible piece of Hopi Native America.

The body is carved from a single piece of the traditional Cottonwood - a tree that grows in washes and canyons where water is more THIS IS POPKOT, OR ANIMAL KACHINA, A WAKAS OR COW - WHICH ARE HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE AND THE OLDER ONES ARE RARE. THE WAKAS IS BASICALLY A DANCE AND PRAYER FOR A HEALTHY HEARD OF VACAS (NAME IS DERIVATIVE OF SPANISH FOR COW). IT IS VERY WELL MADE AND VERY ORNATE WITH MANY ACCOUTREMENTS ALL ORIGINAL. carved and painted by a master Hopi Kachina carver/maker! Excellent condition for age and a true Collector\'s item!
