A fine large rare old Northwest Coast Tsimshian cedar totem pole . The totem is carved in a fluid abstract style featuring Bear, thunderbird, killer whale and a bear/whale transformation figure. The totem is carved in a style very reminiscent of famous Coast Salish artist Susan Point but predates her. I really like the fluid abstract carving on this original carving. The totem stands 18\" tall , base 2 1/2\" x 2 1/2\" sqaure and is in excellent original condition. Inscribed to the back \" Thunderbird + Killer whale carved by Roger Watts Kincolinth BC. Kincolinth is a remote Tsimshian village located on the Nass River and is the traditional home of the Tsimshian Indians. It\'s realitivly rare to find mid century model totems from the Tsimshian carvers. The totem makes an impressive display itemand a fine addition to anyone\'s collection.
