A high quality late17th century month duration longcase clock movement.
Large 7 3/8” x 61/4” plates.
As can be seen fromthe collection on vacant pivot and screw holes to the side of thegoing train , the movement had a quarter repeating mechanism soundingon three bells – a rarely seen feature.
Good qualityfinned/ringed frame pillars.
Very fine wheelwork.
The dial: late 17thcentury chapter ring, boys and crown spandrels, seconds ring and date ring with restored cast yellow brass 12 inch back plateplanished, scraped, matted and finished using traditional methods.The turned dial feet are also restorations manufactured from yellowcast brass turned to match the movement. The 17th c dial parts used are all from the same donor dial whose bacplate had been badly damaged owing to a whole series of movements having been fitted to it. The dial is consequently a faithful replica of the original.

Condition.
The movement isclean and with light tarnish, is structurally sound and in excellentcondition. The rust to the steelwork is quite superficialparticularly the pinions.
There is minimalwear to the pinions and the escapement pallets.
The wheel trains runsmoothly when finger pressure is applied to the wheel trains and theescapement trips well with minimal ‘drop’.
The dial back plateand dial feet are restorations.
No weights orpendulum.
