A fineold Northwest Coast Tsimshian Indian hand carved and painted totem pole circa 1920-30\'s. The totem is carved in the manner of the famous Tsimshian carver carver Eli Tait ( 1872-1949) from the Tsimshian village of New Metlakatla Alaska and one can safely assume this carver worked with Eli closely. The totem features well carved and painted imagery featuring a Eagle, Raven and a bear at the base, painted in great old and original pigments of yellow, black and blue-green. The totem stands 8\" tall on a base measuring 1 3/4\" x 1 1/3\" and is in very good condition for its age with a nice aged patina from great age and careful handling. On the back is a faint pencil inscription that is somewhat of a challenge to decipher. Part reads\" Eagle,Raven, Bear Clan of Raven.......\" .
