For sale on with is this very unusual fine beautiful japanese Meiji period Satsuma pottery tea bowl & carved wood stand . The tea bowl is superbly hand painted with a bird perched in the branches of prunus blossom tree to one side & gold calligraphy & red seals to the other side. This very beautiful piece of Satsuma pottery would originally have been made for the Japanese home market for the tea ceremony & is decorated much more sparsely & in a sophisticated style than many of the mass produced pieces made for the export market.
The Satsuma pottery bowl measures approximately 2 3/4inches - 7 cm in height and approximately 3 3/4 inches -9.5 cm width measured across
the little carved wood stand measures approximately 2 1/8 inches - 5.4 cm in height.

CONDITION

The Satsuma pottery bowl & stand are in really well looked after condition for its age with no damage or restoration just some very old staining to body of bowl from being used for tea.
