FINE RARE NORTHWEST COAST HAIDA TLINGIT FULL SIZE CANOE PADDLE CIRCA 1880:

A very fine rare early Northwest Coast Haida or Tlingit full sized hand carved and painted cedar canoe paddle dating from the late 1800\'s. painted in great old and original pigments of black and red vermillion on both sides. The crest design painted in classic forms features an avian motif representing Raven. Note the very desirable \"V\" shaped notched handle. The paddle measures 56 1/2\" in length and 6 3/4\" across the blade and is in excellent original condition, with no breaks or repairs noted. Just a nice aged patina from careful and handling and great age. Very rare to see full size painted paddles come for sale. This museum quality example will make a fine addition to anyone\'s collection.
