FINE RARE OLD NORTHWEST COAST NOOTKA NUU-CHAH-NULTH INDIAN CEDAR TOTEM C1910:

A fine rare early Northwest Coast Nootka Nuu-chah-nulth hand carved and painted red cedar model totem dating from the very early 1900\'s. The totem is an early work most likely originated from the Seattle area at the very beginning and is done in the manner similar to Williams family of carvings. The totem features great complex multi-figured imagery featuring a Thunderbird with head turned to one side , whale in his talons, frog, seated human with hands to chin,another human holding a frog, and a shaman with extended tongue at the base. Painted in great old and original pigments. The totem stands 11 1/3\" tall by 2 1/4\" d and is in good original condition with some paint wear noted as expected with age and some rubbing and nicks to the Thunderbird at the top otherwise just normal patina from great age and handling. Very rare hard to find totem pole!
