First Limited Edition. Two volume set. The Idyls of Theocritus and the Idyls of Bion & Moschus, fantastically illustrated by Sir Russell Flint and beatifully printed by Riccardi. We can\'t say enough about Medici Society books printed at the Riccardi Press. These are wonderfully designed, profusely illustrated and beautifully printed books on fantastic handmade Riccardi paper, with a fleur-de-lys design watermark. The paper is wonderful to touch, these beautiful books are a pleasure to behold and would make a fantastic gift. The plates are of fantastic quality, which is not seen on trade or later editions, very faithful detailed reproductions, actual lithographs. Publisher: Philip Lee Warner, London, Medici Society, 1922. Limited edition of 500 numbered copies. Publisher\'s original holland boards with linen spines and paper labels. Top Edge gilt ( TEG) , others uncut ( deckled ). Twenty superb tipped-in full colour illustrations in total, under captioned tissue guards, each on a cream-gilt edged mat. Condition: Excellent, protected by old glassine wrappers. Very slight toning and very slight aging to bindings, if anything of note at all - in keeping with age, but please see photos, beautifully preserved books. Internally, FINE. Endpapers toned - typical. Very bright set beyond the endpapers. Original silk bookmark. This beautiful volume appears unread, all plates and tissues in fine condition, top edge bright, text block bright, no marks of note. No detracting marks.
