FINE VICTORIAN ANTIQUE PEWTER QUARTTANKARD MUG MEASURE

BY YATES & BIRCH c1840

Thispewter tankard dates to c1840 and is of “QUART”capacity which is marked

to the left hand side of the handle.

Thereare two verification marks to the rim of a crowned VR over 410 and a crowned VRover 411

(both Gloucester County -see Marks and Marking of Weights and Measuresof the British Isles

– Ricketts & Douglas).

Themaker is YATES & BIRCH ofBirmingham whose mark is struck to the right hand

sideof the handle above avery worn capacity label of “QUART”.

“QUART” is also marked to the body.

This tankardis in good condition with minor wear commensurate with age (see images),

but nosplits, holes or repairs, and would make a great display piece.
