ANTIQUE FRENCH BED WARMERLate 19th or early 20th centuryIron and woodDecorative crest ( lion and horse) on 2 sides of iron.(photos 3,6,9 and 10)Possibly from a house of noblity -- not sure of its providence10\" wide-- 6 \" high and 7 1/2\" wideBox is iron and has an iron tray inside to hold coals. Also has vents so heat can be released.Trimmed with 3 wood panels and wood on handle.( Photos 2,4 & 7)The servant in the household would put coals in body of container- lift the coversfrom the bed and move the warmer around quickly and pull covers over quickly to keep heat it.Today it can be used as an decorative object-- a conversation piece-- very charming.
