Gorgeousantique c1870 christening gown or baby\'s dress. It features the most amazing whitework embroidery down the front and across the shoulders - possibly very fine Ayreshire embroidery, but we suspect this is French.Exquisitehandwork on an incredibly pretty gown.
It measures 24 inches from shoulder to bottom. Laying flat, it measures 9 inches across the chest, from underarm to underarm, and the neck opening is about 4.5 inches across. The dress fastens in back with 4buttons. Loads of handwork on this piece.
Very good condition, estate fresh - we have notwashed this. But it is bright and clean, and was likely laundered in the recent past, with just a few specks and small discolorations to note. There are occasional small holes in the cotton, some seam separations in the front, and along the bottom (mostly in back), and sometiny tears in the embroidery batiste. Last three photos show most of it - just a couple small holes in back and on the elbow aren\'t photographed.
We like to be thorough - thisgown looks fantastic.
