This paperback book was written with an introduction and commentaries by Christopher Forbes, a foreword by Armand Hammer, illustrated with full page color photos by Lerry Stein. It is approx. 10.50\" X 14.50\", has 7 pages of text plus 52 pages of photos of the eggs and the descriptions on the facing page, A Catalogue Raisonne of Imperial Eggs on the last 11 pages, and is in very good condition. The covers have a few minor shelf wear and rub markings, and the inside of the book appears to be in little to maybe never read condition. In this volume, a selection of 26 Faberge eggs - fantasies created by the House of Faberge to divert the Russian imperial family - are presented larger than life-size. The jewelled, enamelled and gold decorations and the whimsical surprises hidden inside - tiny singing birds, miniature portraits, flower baskets, crowing roosters - can be examined in detail. Each of the Eggs are pictured on one page and all of the information about the egg is on the facing page. The last 11 pages of this book is A Catalogue Raisonne of Imperial Eggs which is illustrated with the original drawings, includes all of the known Faberge Eggs. It presents some of the most spectacular achievements of Peter Carl Faberge, a goldsmith of consummate artistry and ingenuity.
