Lovely 18th century Dutch brass foot warmer with carrying handle for portability in keeping warm on cold trips in early carriages and sleighs. A rare piece and very attractive in an unusual square shape with concaved shaped cartouches on each side and pretty, ornate pierced and punched decoration above these and over the top. It has a brass latch-toggle to open the hinged door to insert your hot coals and sits on 4 ball feet. A lovely quality piece, clearly from a well-to-do household originally.
It measures 7 1/2\" wide, 6 1/2\" high and just under 12\" high with the handle. Condition is very good with no damage and only light wear and some light dinks. There is some tarnish coming which I have left but it has clearly been kept well polished in the past and inside there are quite a few polish stains where it has seeped through the holes.
