A wonderful soft cream embroidered pure silk Canton piano shawl, covered with delightful embroidery of birds and flowers.Made in the later part of the 19th Century early 20th century, these shawls were made to export to the European market.They were hugely popular to drape over furniture or to be worn.It has a lovely slinky 20 inch long fringe.This shawl is a lovely example, it has some light coloured staining and a couple of tiny holes and marks.I have not tried to clean it as it needs to be done professionally.
