It\'s hard to describe this piece. I\'ve had it on display for years. It\'s alluring. People always want to touch it. You have to pick it up to feel the weight. It measures about 9\" X 4 1/2\" x 12\" high and weighs 6 pounds. I have found no identifying marks anywhere on it. It feels like it\'s ceramic inside - raw fired clay covered in pieces of leather securely sealed together. I guess it\'s leather, or it could be faux leather. The leathergives it a nice soft feel andlooks like it\'s sealed to the inside with some kind of tar or pitch. The twine and wooden bead serve as just the right accent to give it a warm rustic artistic appeal. I like this beautiful piece a lot but it\'s time for someone else to enjoy it for a while.
