Holy Martyr Faith (Vera) lived in Italy and suffered in Rome together with her mother Sophia and younger sisters, Love and Hope. In the year 137 when Faith took the crown of martyrdom, she was twelve years old.Sister was raised by her mother in Christian piety. Sophia was a widow and all his time was devoted daughters, instructing them in the faith and love of God. The family lived openly, not hiding their affiliation to Christianity in pagan Rome was tantamount to a crime. By order of the Emperor Hadrian, pious family was taken to the Palace. Rich gifts and promises of untroubled and happy life at the Palace the Emperor tried to seduce girls with the Christian ways and make them bow to the goddess Artemis. But there was nothing to tempt them: they firmly confessed their faith in Christ. Then the Emperor Adrian ordered to put the daughters to cruel torture. Faith was tortured and executed first, giving the sisters an example of the courageous and unshakable faith. Moving beyond human understanding flour, the girl was beheaded with a sword. Was later executed and the other two daughters of Sophia.The bodies of the children was given to mother who buried them on a high hill. Three days she remained at the tomb of the girls, until she reposed in the Lord. Believers buried her there, along with her daughters.Sophia was canonized martyrs, because if not the body, the heart is also suffering for Christ.Feat Martyr of the Faith, her sisters and mother is not indifferent to believers for many centuries.Holy Martyresses are loved and revered throughout the Christian world. Before the icon of the Holy Faith, people pray for patience, fortitude, courage in difficult times and, of course, hope, faith and love.Relics of the Holy martyrs dwelt first in Rome, and since the VIII century, is located in Alsace.The memory is performed 17(30) September.
