This is a wonderful original Confederate letter from February of 1862 from Greer Baughman, of the 21st Regiment Virginia Infantry while at Winchester. It is guaranteed original and in good condition. It says in part:


Before you join our company you had better wait until we get settled at Manassas do not join us here, our camp here is about as muddy as Valley Mountains and in fact if you take my advice you would not join us at all. Our company will certainly be disbanded on the21st of Aprilnext and the boys will be scattered to all parts of the Confederacy I for one will certainly not go in again under our present captain. I do not think he has treated us boys as he should have done, this I believe is the opinion of nearly all the boys…
