Fender Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Stratocaster - Serial Number: TN711309 - Made in USA
This is a rare, limited edition USA Stratocaster built by Fender in the late 1990s in a line of \"Hendrix-inspired\" guitars. The \"Voodoo\" model was designed to be more practical for the right-handed player, and featured a right-handed body and pickguard with reverse angle on the bridge pickup, reverse \"big\" headstock, and an engraved Hendrix neck-plate. The guitar was offered in six variations and are believed to have been produced in very limited numbers.
I was given this guitar new, as a gift, in 2000. It was played occasionally for about 5 years, and remains in very good, lightly used condition. This guitar was purchased from Guitar Center on Hollywood, Blvd. in Los Angeles (in June 2000), and I recently took it in for an evaluation. They checked it for operation and said that all that was needed was a basic service, new strings, and a tune up. I have however, not played it for some years.
The guitar is finished in its original black paint, and is complete with the special woven \"hippie\" strap provided with the guitar, a black Fender hardshell case with red lining, and original paperwork including the sales invoice, owners manual, specification brochure, and warranty card.
This is a very nice, quality guitar that I have not been using and would love to see it go on to a Hendrix enthusiast.
Please message me with any questions. The Guitar is located in Los Angeles, CA for pickup.
Thank you
Description of Model from Guitar List:
The Fender Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Stratocaster was made in the USA between 1998 and 1999. It was around the fifth in the series of Hendrix signature stratocaster released by Fender. The design of the Fender Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Stratocaster went a little way toward\'s recreating Hendrix\'s sound. It had a right-handed alder body, a one-piece maple neck with reverse headstock, 21 medium jumbo frets, vintage pickups with reversed staggered pole pieces and reverse angle bridge pickup, a right-handed vintage bridge, rosewood or maple fretboard, and vintage “F” tuners. The reverse bridge pickup angled down towards the bass string produces a sound that differs from a standard Stratocaster bridge pickup. Fender claimed the low strings were brighter and more articulate and the high strings are warmer and fuller when this right-handed guitar is strung lefthanded, the change in string tension and the reverse staggered pole pieces on the pickups having a direct effect on the tone. Since it’s a challenge to play a guitar body that’s upside down with all the knobs and the tremolo in the way, Fender made it easy for the right-handed player to comfortably obtain the Hendrix sound. Everything on the Voodoo Strat was designed to give all the tonal benefits of playing an upside-down Strat like the Hendix original, only on a right-handed body.
