Offering for sale at sale with this 1930 FIVE JACKS penny drop vintage arcade gambling machine made by the Field Manufacturing Company.

Jacks machines (named for their large visible jackpots) came in a number of varieties and were produced by several makers in the early 30s and 40s. They all share a very simple design principle of having the player flick the penny into a nail-covered playfield – hoping to have the coin land in a slot that would release a jackpot.

This is a nice specimen overall – having a quarter sawn oak wood cabinet that retains its original finish AND operator decals on both the left and right side. The operator was Coleman Novelty Co. of Rockford, Il. They have a great slogan on the decal: “IT WILL PAY YOU TO KNOW US”. The cabinet also features beautiful dovetail construction at the top.

The castings are free of cracks or chips although there is some plating wear but it is minor (view all 12 photos please). There is an older Corbin lock and key for the back door. The internal mechanism appears old and original and is in fine working condition.
