I will be listing a nice large group of Antique and Vintage Paintings and Artwork gleaned from various estates comprised of mostly listed artists over the next couple of weeks. Here is a FINE ANTIQUE c.19THC OIL ON TIN COPY OF \"THE PIE EATERS\" AFTER BARTOLOME ESTEBAN MURILLO (Spanish: 1617-1682) with BOYS EATING FRUIT AND DOG. Probably a c.Late-19thC German or European copy on tin. It has \"N. 380\" etched on back of painting. A much better than average quality copy of this classic work. Painting itself is approx. 11-1/4\" x 9-1/2\". It has been framed in a what appears to be a nice period, possibly 18thC, wood and gesso frame. Entire piece framed is 17-1/2\" x 16\". The frame and painting look to be a nice marriage in it\'s recent history and not original to each other. The frame looks to be a very old frame, but it looks to have many coats of gilding and patina on it which obscure some of the original details.
The Painting itself looks to have been professionally conserved in it\'s recent history with minor professional touch-up spots. Looks like a small spot on the boy\'s forearm and several small line spots around the bottom. Nicely done, with painting having a nice smooth semi-gloss coat of protective varnish on surface- very attractive. No bend lines to tin. Painting is nice and flat. The Frame with several small losses to gesso ornamentation. Possibly an early French(?) frame which looks to have had other paintings in it in it\'s history judging by the extra old hanging holes in the back. A beautiful frame and nice antique painting. The back of painting will have a piece of foamboard nailed behind it (not shown in photos) to secure painting in frame as found. Will pack with care for buyer.
