This listing is for a really nice Chinese porcelain vase, beautifully decorated in enamels, with colourful Peony and Pheonix design.
In 1978 the Hong Kong Art Craft Merchants Association examined this vase, and determined it was over 100 years old at that time - ie made prior to 1878. There certificate is shown in the photographs below, and is included with this item. I absolutely guarantee the certificate is authentic, and the vase was examined in 1978. Although the Hong Kong Art Craft Merchants Association certificate is highly regarded, I\'ve listed this item in the 1900-1940 period just to be absolutely safe. In my view, this is a late Qing Dynasty vase, or Republic example. In either case, its a valuable, beautiful, and very large vase.
About 10 pounds ( about 4.5 kg).
About 56 cm or 22 inches tall (on the 1978 certificate they say it is 23 inches, but that must have been with the base it had back then).
It is in excellent condition - no cracks or repairs. The only flaw I can find is a small piece of enamel which has flaked off on the side (a piece of one of the plant leaves - if you look very carefully at the pictures below, you may be able to find it - it is so minor as to be very hard to locate - it is between the two groups of black birds).
This vase was previously owned by Dr. Joseph Nearing, who assembled the Dragon\'s Lair Collection of Chinese antiques. Dr. Nearing passed away in 2012. This item was purchased from his estate, and is now being offered on . Please see our other listings for more pieces from this collection.
