Up for sale is an antique carved agate or Carnelian water dropper. Water dropper swere designed as ornamental and functional forms for the Chinese scholar\'s desk. They contained water for use in making ink or replenishing the brush washer. This particular water dropper is made of agate finely carved in high relief with beautiful leaves and vines. This piece is well carved, made in an age by an artist who took pride in taking time to make a handsome, carefully executed sculpture. It measures about 1 1/8 inch (or 2.8cm) high and about 2 10/16 inch (or 6.5cm)long and 2 1/16 inch (5.3cm) at its widest. It is in SUPERB antique condition. We examined the piece very carefully. We can only see some natural cracks and those irregular edges resulted from carving. We attached supersized close up pictures which are larger than the real thing, so that you can judge yourself.
