Very fine Edwardian painting depicting this half length portrait of a gentleman. Portrayed seated, in his elegant wing collars and neck-tie facing the viewer.

Painted against a darker background, which further enhances the sitter subtle skin tones illuminated from soft lighting falling to the left side of the painting. Painted with exceptional quality and certainly a work by a leading portrait painter of the period. Delightful \'Impressionist\' brush strokes similar to those used by John Singer Sargent (1856-1925). The painting bears that name to the lower right, though it is our opinion that the painting is by a follower.

Condition report:
The painting is in overall presentable condition though does have some scuffs to the surface. The frame has areas of plaster and gilt loss.
