This is a fine French Georgian silkwork sealed in its original frame .
The embroidery is incredibly finely worked in silks and shows a lion lying among trees.
I think the french verse at the top says something like...before sleep closes your eyelids, think seriously about your days work. At the bottom it says....goodnight my friend
The condition is excellent, the colours are still strong and I can find no damage.
There are a few age spots on the backing and a small water mark on the bottom right edge.
The gilt frame edges show signs of age and have been repaired as shown in the photos.The measurements including the frame are 18.5cms x 15.5cms (7.5\" x6\") The silkwork measures 15cms x 12cms (6\" x4.75\")
