Fine large 18thcentury scene of the Death of a Soldier, oil on canvas.Unique British Military scene as a battle ensues in the distance while in the foreground a young senior officer lies dying on the ground in his red tunic accompanied by hiswife and child, that looks back at the view. Strikingpicture,magnificently painted that comes originally from a composition of Wrights entitled The Dying Soldier, probably by a member of his circle or close follower though it could be apreparatory work or copy by him or his studio. Gilt frame. Someover cleaning to the surface, would benefit from a reline.
