Here is a very nice old early 20th centurytalibon or garabsword from the northern Philippine Islands. The sword is 25in. overall, with a heavy thick blade that is classically at a sharp angle downward from the hilt. The blade is in nice shape showing its original dark patina. The hilt is nicely carved on one side as is the norm with these, and plain on the other side. It shows one old age crack at the topthat is not at all destabilizing nor terribly distractive. The hilt is bound with a heavy rattan weave.The scabbard is finely carved hardwood in the classic talibon/garab form with a carved in belt holder and dark \"eye\" at the bottom. The scabbard is bound by four rattan bands, the top and bottom ones are restored.

A classic example of this type of ethnographic sword in superb condition!
