Fine Old Northwest Haida Argillite Totem:

Old (Circa 1900) hand carved Haida argillite totem pole. It has 3 figures. On top is a chief holding a fish and below him is a bear holding a frog. The unusual hat is a limpet shell and the chief, bear and frog all have inlaid abalone eyes. Great detail and fine workmanship done before power tools. The length is 7 3/4\" and the base is 2\" by 2 1/2\". It is 7/8\" at the bottom of the pole and 3/4\" at the top taken from the uncarved backside. The head of the fish has some wear but otherwise the pole is in fine condition.
