This hand hammered fine copper bowl weighs 340 grams, and is 3 1/8 \" high. The opening (mouth) measures 4.5\". The base measures 3\". It has an overall diameter of 5 3/4\". All these measures are approximate.
While the above photos allow the surface markings in the patina to be shown as a spot of verdigris, drips, uneven coloration, and dis-colourations, there are no dings, dents, or problems with the overall form of the bowl, which remains excellent. The planishing marks of the maker are in the surface, as shown, and the bowl is smooth and satisfying to touch.
I have not attempted to clean this bowl, or remove the thick verdigris in the bowl.
R. Ralph Jarvie is recorded as starting his shop in Chicago in 1905, but before this he was making his distinctive copper pieces and signing them as this bowl is signed. He was said to be inspired by the forms of native basketry, and this simple satisfying bowl is a classic shape.
