Fine & Rare 18th Century Leeds English Creamware Chestnut Basket & Tray Antique:

Offered for saleis this rarely found open work chestnut basket with cover. It is 18th century English creamware in outstanding condition. Might be from the Leeds pottery but it is unmarked. It is very lightweight, has double rope twist handles and a large fruitlike finial. It\'s a niceclean original piece with no restorations and only minor damage. The lid has a small chip on the inner rim edge. The base has a crack in the upper rim and there are two faint lines in the staves just below the crack as well as a small chip on the edge of one stave nearby. Probably all happened at once, and as you can see in the photos, is fairly minor.I see two tiny pinhead size glaze nicks on the handles and a couple of insignificant pinpoint nicks on the inside rim edge, otherwise fine. It\'s about as nice as you could ever expect to find. If you find one of these perfect, chances are that it is restored. Measures 10&5/8\" from handle to handle, 5&1/2\" deep.
