The technique of silver and copper inlay was revived in the late 1700\'s and 1800\'s in the Islamic world. The process is difficult and requires several stages of mastery.Indeed after the item has been cast or hammered into shape it is then covered in the calligraphy and patterns. After this difficult stage the brass/bronze is carved & engraved by hand. Finally thesilverand copper is hammered into the carved areas.(M.Khaleeq 2011)
A nicequalityheavy tray with stunning thick finely inlaid silver and superlative large Kufic medallion. The inner rim even has silver inlay and this part was never easy to do. Superb background work on the brass too. A beautiful decorative piece. Please see all the12 ENLARGED pictures.
