For sale is this breathtaking antique Islamic Syrian Damascus tray. The tray is made from brass, and has been inlaid with silver and copper.The silver inlay has been used to form some magnificent Arabic calligraphy. The lettering is very dense and thick silver which really stands out.
There are further arabesque motifs very finely inlaid with charming birds.There is further copper inlay work which has been used to add further definition and detail.
The actual background of the tray has been hand chased with very fine work, which shows the highest efforts were put into creating this masterpiece.
There is also further calligraphy going around the edge of the tray as well as more geometric patterns in between the bands of script.
The central medallion on the tray is something very special. Very fine floral silver inlay has been used and you can only admire the detail and quality.SizeThe diameter of the tray is 55.5cm.It is in good condition. Please see all photos above.
