The Artist: Terry Jackson is a member of the Metis Nation. Aftermany years of searching and confirming his identity as a member of a modernMetis society as well as a mainstream one, he is now producing work thatreflects this ability to move in and through the diverse cultures he inhabits. He is also a facilitator of community events, honored elder,story teller, and teacher. Terry has carved story poles and his works areexhibited in Whistler and in numerous galleries. Born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 1955,Terry Jackson began his artistic education at the age of 16. Because hewas passionate and driven to learn of the last century’s Northwest Coast Nativemasters, he was accepted into as a student into the Hunt family and worked withother famous carvers like John Livingston, Glen Rabena and Francis Home.
