I had offer near this amount so i thought i would give others the chance to buy it for what my counter offer was and see if their was someone step up.
VIN # F20532A0. A is upside down and part of 2 is stamped on the 3 . It also has PHILL HINDS stamped in that same area. If you Google him you will find car owner vintage racer etc. He was sure cool and would think he built or used this block ! Stamping like this is common as 50 years ago they didn\'t care.
I know you can buy a brand new block! There was also another block on that is .060 over for $1500.00 .
New blocks won\'t have any numbers on it that will match your cars date code or vin number which will make your car worth $10000.00- $15000.00 more in value.
I heard that 44 of the original blocks have been reunited with there cars. How many are real? I guess that would be my story to. lol.
And people weld on casting numbers and deck the vin number area and stamp there own vin number.
This to me at best is a date code or era correct replacement block.Vintage Gasser rare rat rod.
This action is for a Ford boss 302 engine block with original 4 bolt mains caps and bolts included and screw in soft plugs. It was cleaned and mag good no cracks. It has 3 sleeves that were installed before i got it and when they did that it squished the cylinder next to them.
The story is they ran it for 300 miles but the rings didn\'t seat.
It was already .040 0ver so we went .050 over. So we bored it to 4.05 to solve that problem.
That is a stock ring size for ford 390 so have your special pistons made to lower the compression to run today\'s gas and use 390 rings. This keeps you from spending as much as $300.00 additional dollars for special rings.
You could always sleeve all 8 holes back to standard which is common on 427 ford cross bolt blocks.
I just had a real 427 cross bolt block for my real R code 1963 mercury super marauder s-55 and it cost $960.00 to sleeve it back to standard.
In most cases date code correct cars and blocks aren\'t perfect but can be made to work.
I would bet next year they will be harder to find and cost more.
The top of the deck has been o ringed for high compression. The bottom end has been drilled and taped for oil restrictions in the main bearing holes that go up stairs. It was also drilled in the valley for use with a roller cam. These are all things that ford guys do to make there engines live longer and will not be seen when the engine is put together and installed in the car for you purest that are restoring a $100000.00 dollar car.
And as we all know the correct date code block could increase its value by $10000.00 easy. There is a castled area in the front of the engine where part of the block is cut back on the outside not sure what mounted there if anything, I don\'t think any thing was mounted to it. See pictures.
