This is a one-off opportunity to acquire fragments from a very rare large ancient bronze figure of a king or god wearing scaled armour! Its difficult to assess size but I would estimate that the whole figure would have been probably 40-50 cms tall, possibly larger. A very rare thing indeed and in consequence I have not been able to identify the culture but most likely Near Eastern, possibly Parthian or another culture flourishing around the Roman period on the Eastern shores of the Mediterranean. There is a superb shoulder fragment wearing a cuirass, also a foot and numerous other pieces, mainly scaled armour and a pleated \"kilt\". This was bought around 10 years ago in a mixed lot of antiquities from a provincial UK sale - I have waited all this time in case other fragments may come to light but have finally given up hope. As you can see from the photos this is a major restoration project and there are numerous pieces missing including the head. Wine bottle in one of the photos for scale (not included and long since finished!); shoulder 17 cms, sandalled foot 10.7 cms toe to heel, rounded leg section 8.3 x 7.2 cms. Several kilos total weight, hence shipping price - international buyers please note! If the shipping cost has been over-stated by more than 5 or 10% I will refund the difference when shipped. I hope someone is able to give these fragments the attention that they deserve, they\'d make a super display piece.This lot is part of a clearance of oddities and ecclectic objects accumulated over the past couple of years by Helios Gallery Antiquities.
