Framed letter from French leader Napoleon Bonaparte to his Minister of War Henri-Jacques-Guillaume Clarke. Letter in French reads: “Monsier the Duke of Feltre, I am sending to you the letter of General Grandjean dated at Cherbourt. It seems to me an extraordinary thing that this general did not go to the palces and that he did not have the infantry and the cannoneers of the navy take part. Also I see that the fort did not do its duty. What is this about 56 cannons fired and 10 bombs fired in a span of three hours? About this I pray that God hold you in His holy care.
