FRAMED CAMEOS SILHOUETTES PORTRAITS 18TH CENTURY COLONIAL SHELL/PAPIER MACHE:
$425.00

Two rare, unusual, miniature framed portraits, cameo or silhouette style, of upper class gentlemen, possibly noblemen. Made sometime between 1750 and 1800. Hand carved from an unknown material, possibly bone or papier mache. (Hard to identify the material as I have not taken them out of their frames.) The portraits are quite detailed and show some relief. The portraits are about 2 1/8 inch by 1 1/4 inch. The frames, which appear to be original, are 4 3/4 inch by 4 3/8 inch by 1 inch deep, and each has a ring for hanging. The frames, which have glass fronts, appear to have been wrapped in gold leaf, and painted brown on the outside. There are paper labels on the back that were added later by a dealer.I cannot find anything to identify the subjects of these two portraits, but they appear to be well dressed, wealthy gentlemen. These are unconditonally guaranteed and you can return these for a full refund if you are in any way not satisfied.
